Art13 London is delighted to announce the appointment of Gus Casely-Hayford as curatorial advisor to ‘Solo’.

Newly launched, Solo, is an invitation-only section advised by Gus Casely-Hayford that focuses on individual presentations of artists whose work has gone or goes beyond the mediums associated with western modernist and contemporary artistic practice. It welcomes historic as well as contemporary approaches both from western and non-western artists. The section is inspired by dramatic installations that were at Art13 London by artists such as El Anatsui, Roelof Loew and Young-Jae Lee who used materials as diverse as bottle-tops, oranges and ceramic bowls.  Casely-Hayford is a British curator and cultural historian with Ghanaian roots. He was Director of Africa 05, the Executive Director of Arts Strategy for Arts Council England and the Director of Iniva. A respected broadcaster and commentator, Casely-Hayford sits on the Tate Britain Council, the National Portrait Gallery Board of Trustees and is a consultant for the United Nations, Arts Council and BBC.
